Sunday 29 This I Believe

Intro: I believe. Believe is a word that is popular at Christmas time. It is associated with believing in the Magic of Christmas, or even believing in Santa Claus. We call ourselves believers as Christians, and Advent and Christmas are at the heart of what we believe. We believe in the virgin birth. Mary gave birth to a baby named Jesus who grew up to change the world forever. He brought hope into a hopeless world. We believe that! We have experienced that. Let’s strengthen our belief this advent season, and proclaim with boldness that we BELIEVE Jesus brings HOPE. Here is your daily eword.

In Last years Advent Devotional, I gave a bonus section from Dec 28th to January 3rd where we discussed the hidden meanings behind the fun Christmas song called The 12 days of Christmas. The last day is “twelve lords a leaping”, and it reminds us of the twelve basic beliefs of the Apostles Creed. We believe some powerful things as Christians. We have been given hope through the birth of Christ and in Him, we have the power and authority to live the glorious, abundant, hope-filled life that Jesus provided. As we start this Advent Season, my prayer for you is that you would grow deeper in your faith, and BELIEVE for more this season. And as we incorporate seasonal songs into our advent time, my hope is that your home would be filled with music that draws you closer to our savior and makes this Advent season especially meaningful. WE Believe! Let’s say it, and let’s sing it . Most of all, let’s live it!
Here is a song we sing at church called The Creed, or This I Believe for you to recall what WE BELIEVE.

I believe in God our Father
I believe in Christ the Son
I believe in the Holy Spirit
Our God is three in One
I believe in the resurrection
That we will rise again
For I believe in the name of Jesus
I believe in life eternal
I BELIEVE IN THE VIRGIN BIRTH
I believe in the saints’ communion
And in Your holy church
I believe in the resurrection
When Jesus comes again
For I believe in the name of Jesus.

Since salvation starts with belief, if you have never committed your life to Christ, today can be the day that you begin your life as a Believer. A simple prayer like this, is your invitation to have Jesus be your Lord and Savior. Jesus, I believe you are the Christ, the Son of God, and today, I ask you to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I will live for you all the days of my life. What a great way to start this season of Advent.
Word of the day: Eph 2:8,9
