Righteous Through Faith Romans 4:4-5

Don’t you love working with people who have a good work ethic? The ones who pull their own weight and get the job done without complaining? ME TOO! I am all about raising kids with a good work ethic. We want them to know that when they are asked to do a chore, or a job, they do it thoroughly, and a good attitude is expected. Because we are used to that good work ethic in our families, or on our jobs, sometimes it makes it harder to understand grace, or understanding how we become the righteousness of God in Christ. We naturally think that if we want something we have to work for it, and if it is really good, we work really hard for it, save for a long time, and then we will finally get it. I hope you are beginning to see very clearly, that we are given grace and made righteous, not because of our good work ethic, but totally because of the love of God. The cool thing about the love of God is that it is a gift. It is not earned. Even when we don’t deserve it we are made righteous through faith. Sounds too good to be true? Believe me, it’s true! Jesus is…the way we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
