This week we have celebrated the birth of the Prince of Peace. I hope you and your family have had an opportunity to have some peaceful days during this season. Letting the peace of God reign in our life is a choice. We can prepare for a New Year in the same peaceful way. I love the line from the old song with this sentiment, we know who holds the future, even if we don’t know what the future holds. God wants us to enter into His rest. Life isn’t about striving and struggling as much as it is about resting and trusting. We still live on an earth with a curse, and in a fallen world, but the peace of God can reign in you. It can reign in your home. It can reign in your family. It can reign wherever you are, because you live in the peace of God. We can be the calm ones when the storm hits. We can rest when others are wrestling. We can be still because we know a great big God who loves us, and has a great plan and a future for us. So how can you decide to live in the peace of God? First of all it takes confidence in God, and then it takes controlling your emotions. There are plenty of times to worry and fret, but instead, you can say, God is on my side, working on my behalf to see me overcome. We overcome because Jesus came as a baby and was willing to die on a cross. It is by His blood and the word of our testimony that we overcome. What he did on Calvary, he did for you and me. What he’s done in our lives, he wants us to share. The word of our testimony can help others overcome. In a world that is looking for peace from a political person or government, we can be a peaceful calm in a mixed up world.
