Light and Life Is 9:1,2

Is 9:1-2 says this, “The people living in darkness have seen a great light, and on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned”, That new star that positioned itself over Bethlehem and was prophesied hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth brought great light as well, and led shepherds and wise men to “The Light” in a manger. That light, brought joy to the world, and came so that our joy can be complete in Him. That little light laying in a manger, grew up to bring abundant life and light to the world. Something that is incredibly amazing is that Jesus not only called Himself the Light of the World, but gave us the same name as well.
“You are the Light of the World. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16
We can be dispensers of light in our world. We can spread “The Light” wherever we are! We can let others see Jesus in us as we share kind words and do good deeds. We are called to tackle the darkness, where ever we find it. Eph 5:8 says, “For we were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord. Live as children of light”
Advent Activity: Light candles around your house and then turn off all the lights. Talk about what the Light of Jesus means to you.
