It is week two of Advent, and this week’s theme is God with us. The word Emmanuel actually means God with us, and Emmanuel came in the form of a baby, so that we could know God personally. Hi this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. This week I hope you continue to read along with the Advent Bible Reading guide available online at agf.org. To know God in a personal way, we should connect with Him daily. We can do that each day by reading the Word of God, and taking time to talk with God. Here is your daily sword…. about.God is with us.

One of the most amazing responses in the Bible is what Mary said in reply to the angel, when she was told that she would be the earthy mother of the Son of God. In the book of Luke Chapter 1 verses 26-28, she replies, “Be it Unto Me, according to your word. Every time I read those verses, I am challenged by her humble, obedient, faith filled heart. How was she able to reply that way? What was asked of her was unbelievable! How would she explain any of this to her friends and family? She didn’t ask to pray about it, check her schedule, consult with anyone, or even just ask for some time to think about it. She just said yes. How can we reply that same way when God speaks to us? How often do we offer excuses, or delay our obedience, instead of realizing that what God asks of us, He knows we can accomplish. God is with us, living in us! We wouldn’t be asked or required to do something that is impossible. What was asked of Mary was totally impossible, without God. But she still said yes. This week as you do all the things you go about doing, be ready to be sensitive to the Spirit of the Lord. There may be something He speaks to your heart to do. Be ready with a willing yes! Your reply will be saying to God, be it unto me, according to your Word.
