Have you ever been so excited about something that you just can’t keep it to yourself? That happened to the disciples in the book of Acts. They obeyed the Great Commission. That also happened to some shepherds who were the first to hear the message from the angels that a Baby was born in the town of Bethlehem. The angels gave the shepherds great directions and precise details of what to look for. They immediately went to the Baby and as they did, they found the little Baby, lying in a manger. After they saw baby Jesus, the Bible says that they went and made it known abroad what they had heard about this Child. The Bible doesn’t say that they were told to go tell, they just went. They were so excited about what had happened, they couldn’t keep it to themselves. The angels told them that the Baby was to bring comfort and joy to all people. No one should be left out. Everyone should know. The angels also said that this Baby would bring peace on earth and good for all men. Everyone should know that too! Everyone longs for their hearts to be at peace, and it is so wonderful to know that God brings GOOD to all men. He is the one who gives a hope and a future. This season is a great time to get excited about the good news that a Baby in a manger brought to this world. Don’t keep it to yourself. Go and tell somebody!
Go Tell it on the Mountain by John W. Work Jr.
Chorus
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and ev’rywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born
Verse 1
While shepherds kept their watching
O’er silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light
Verse 2
The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed the Savior’s birth
Verse 3
Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born
And God sent us salvatio
That blessed Christmas morn
