Feeling Settled

What is the best way to feel settled inside when you are struggling with discontentment or comparing your situation to someone else’s? It may mean doing some natural things….as our bodies change, we need rest, vitamins, healthy food, exercise and mental clarity. That means discipline, and a disciple of Jesus is disciplined! In fact, that is what disciple means, a disciplined one. We need to just decide to do what we know is right.
A spiritual thing we can do is put positive pressure on our own mind to think about what is good and perfect (Phil 4:8). We can put pressure on our mouth to speak the right thing. And we can put pressure on our life, to act the right way. The easy thing to do is to act on what you feel. But as believers, we are not to be moved by what we see or feel. We are to respond to what God’s Word says. If we want to change from discontentment to contentment and peace, we must put a guard on our mind and our thoughts, and our mouth. Words are so powerful, in fact, in James chapter 3, a whole chapter is dedicated to talking about the power of the tongue. Romans 12: 1,2 says for us to completely change the way we think. We have the mind of Christ, so we can think like He would think. When negative thoughts do come, we have to immediately make the choice to capture and set aside those that disagree with the Word of God. When we want to speak words that are contrary to God’s Word, we immediately have to shut our lips, and put pressure on our mouth to speak what is true and right.
Are you feeling like a spirit of discontentment is on you? I want to see it broken off of you in Jesus’ name. I want you to experience joy and freedom, and it starts with the power of God helping you control your thoughts, and by beginning to speak words of life. Contentment and satisfaction can come back to you! I pray and believe for peace to your mind, and grace for your lips!
