Contented and Satisfied

Comparing yourself to others leads to disappointments. God made only one you. Hallelujah, one is enough! Why does it seem so hard to shake off those thoughts of comparison? Part of the reason is we don’t put enough value who God created us to be. We are intricately designed by the Master and he is a perfect designer. We can’t expect and should never desire to be like someone else, because you are an original. If we concentrate on being our very best self, and would treat everyone around us with the same kind of respect and dignity that we would like, we can get rid of comparisons all together, and really be proud of who we are in Christ.
Another way we will surely be disappointed is when we try to change someone else. We cannot change others, but we can change ourselves. It is important that we get that settled. The only person we can change is me. We are in charge of ourselves. We have to do the work that is required to make the change. What are some things in your own life that are changeable? A lot of time we can get buried, in debt, in frustration about our weight, our relationships, our job situations. If we want to make each of those areas better, we have to do something different than we are doing now. Because we all know that you will keep getting the results you are getting if you keep doing what you are doing. So what one change could make each of those areas better? For finances, how about making a choice to budget? For weight, how about making healthy food choices? For relationship, how about sowing seeds of love and forgiveness? For your career, how about taking a class in your field of study to get better, and maybe get that promotion you are longing for? Make a change in you. Then you can live that totally contented, satisfied life, because you are giving it your all.
