We Overcome John 16:33

You’ve probably got this figured out in life. In this world you will have difficulty. There are problems and trouble associated with living life on planet earth. We live in a fallen world, and our earth has a curse on it. Bummer, that’s what we have to deal with. I’m so glad we don’t have to stop there! In John 16:33 it tells us just that, “in this world there will be tribulation, but be of good cheer, I (Jesus) have overcome the world”. We should always move over for the but! There is good news after the but! Be happy, be joyful, take heart! Jesus has conquered death, hell and the grave! We have reason to rejoice and be exceedingly glad. The story has a glorious ending. We win! Jesus bought and paid for our victory. We are victorious through Christ. So we can live with this amazing peace. Jesus has it covered. He’s got this one. We can be totally complete and satisfied in His victory. Let’s enforce it on this earth. Let’s use our authority, in His name and see great things done for His kingdom.
Jesus is….how we overcome!

God is For Us Romans 8:21-32

If God is for us, who can be against us? If you’ve read that before in Romans 8 and thought that it seems like the whole world is against you, you are not alone. Sometimes circumstances of life can seem overwhelming. We can feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. Even if you have felt that way, we can be sure that we can face tomorrow. Brighter days are ahead. I hope you read all of these verses for today in Romans 8:21-32. God is on your side. He is for us! Lots of things can come against you, but they don’t have to succeed. Nothing can separate you from the love of God! He is more than enough for every situation we face. One of the things that I love most about God is that He can take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for our good. And one of my favorite sayings is, if its not good yet, its not done yet. Can you see Jesus working in you and around you in the circumstances you face? Be assured that He is. There is nothing too difficult for Him. Jesus is….for us.

Lavish Love I John 3:1

Jesus lavishes love on us. What marvelous, lavish love we have received from God. He extends it to all of His children and we are called His children. What do loving, good dads do for their kids? A good dad, provides, protects and promotes his children. God is no different. He is our provider. We have our spiritual and physical life and breath in Him. He is our Jehovah Jireh, our provider, or Abba Father, our daddy God, who makes sure we don’t go without things necessary for life. As a good Father, He is our protector, keeping us safe from the things that could destroy our life. And lastly, he wants us to succeed. He is for us, with us, and in us! He gives us vision and passion and then provision that’s lasting. His love is represented in every aspect of our lives. Lavishing love on us, is what God is good at. The Message Bible says it this way, what marvelous love the Father has extended to us, we are called children of God! As God’s children, He has splashed his love all over us! I hope you are beginning to see and understand how much love God has for us, and because of Jesus, we are lavishly loved!

Friend of God John 15:13-15

We have been studying the book Jesus Is by Judah Smith. I would encourage you to read it yourself, because each page helps you find out exactly who Jesus is to us, right here, right now. Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. I hope you are beginning to see God’s character through the person of Jesus. If we want to be more like Him, let’s go about doing what He told us to do. It starts by loving God, and then loving people! We end our Jesus is series, and begin November with a Thankful Heart. Here is your dailyeword.

How many friends do you have? I’m not talking about Facebook friends, or Instagram or Twitter followers. We can have hundreds of them, and not one true friend. I’ve heard it said once that if when you die you can say you had 5 good friends you would have had a rich and fulfilled life. “Greater love has no man than this that he would lay down his life for His friends.” We know that this verse is talking about Jesus, but do you realize that when Jesus laid down His life for you, that he called you a friend? He did that by faith, because before we could be in relationship with God through the cross, we were just lost souls looking for love. We became His friend at salvation. Jesus then said that friends do what He asks. His friend requests were pretty simple, just two things he asks of us, love God, and love others. We are friends through love and obedience. We also can know our Master’s business, because we are in communication with Him, through His Word and through prayer. That makes us more than just a servant who goes about doing what is asked of him, it makes us true friends of God. This friendship lets us in on what Jesus knows from the Father. He isn’t hiding information from us, He wants us to know that He has learned from the Father. What a wonderful friendship circle! Jesus makes us a friend of God.

Real Love I John 4:9-10

What the world needs now, is love sweet love! We see it everywhere in our world, people are looking for love in all the wrong places. There might be a cheap substitute that looks like real love, but the only place to find real love is in Jesus. Hurting hearts look to either find real love, or subdue pain in many ways. It can include negative relationships, substance abuse, or living in a dream like fantasy world. Without the love of God in the middle of a relationship, there will be disappointment. Friends let you down, parents and kids have misunderstandings, and spouses give up on each other. Drugs and alcohol numbs the pain temporarily, but after the numbing effect is done, your problems resurface, only with more debt and having to face the consequences of bad choices made while your senses were numbed. How can we spread some of the real love that God has made available to us? As believers, we are given God’s nature to love and to giver. We can find our passion, or our trigger point and be light to our world by showing the love of Jesus. I hope you are beginning to think of a few ways that you can show love to the hurting world around you. There are more than 2.1 billion Christians on the planet, so let’s make a lasting impact and do something big….Let’s love like Jesus taught us. Because, Jesus is …..real love

Count the Ways Ephesians 3:17-19

For my mom’s 80th birthday last year, I made her a book that was called 80 reasons I love my mom. It didn’t take me very long to write out 80 reasons, because I have a great mom. She is fantastic. I hope she enjoyed counting the ways that she was loved. In Eph 3:17-19 Paul tells us to try to grasp how wide and deep and amazing is God’s love for us. It surpasses knowledge. In other words, we can never fathom or totally know with our physical mind how much we are loved. We have to get a revelation of it in our spirit, and then actually receive that love, and be filled with all the fullness of God. The prayer starts out with these words, being rooted and established in love, and then goes on to say how much more loved we are. So young or old, as much as we think we are rooted in love, let’s open our hearts to all the love God has for us. When that happens, something spectacular happens, we want to give that love away. We know that it isn’t meant just for us, we are to love our world to Jesus. So, count the ways you are loved, and then begin counting the ways you can love others.! Jesus is …. The lover of our soul.

No Expiration Date Hebrews 10:11-14

I love how my husband talks about the sacrifice of Jesus. He says so often just what the verses in Hebrews 10:11-14 say, and that is that the sacrifice of Jesus is like it just happened. It is fresh for us, just like the new mercies we receive everyday. We don’t have to run to the temple with a turtle dove, or to do our temple duty, and we don’t have to depend on someone else like a priest to offer another sacrifice on our behalf for our sins. It was done once and for all, and it has no expiration date. It reminds me of the song from long ago that said, the blood would never lose it’s power. It is as strong and powerful today as it was then. We live in a blessed time. This season is when we get to experience the best of God’s grace. We live in the Age of Grace. Jesus did his part and our part is pretty simple. Believe it, receive it, and live in the grace of God. Could life on earth get any better? Jesus is…..our complete sacrifice with no expiration date.

Abundant Life John 10:10

I love the verse in John 10:10 that tells us that Jesus is….abundant life. In the 10th chapter of John, Jesus did a lot of talking about sheep, and how he was the good shepherd. If you think about sheep having a good shepherd to take care of them, protect them, lead them to good green pasture, and to never leave them, I think I like sheep life! We all want to be protected and taken care of, we want good food to eat, and we want good company. That sounds like a simple, abundant life. Just like with sheep, we know the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, and I have noticed in life that the enemy not only wants us dead, but miserable before we die. We actually own sheep, and have had to fend off enemies of sheep. We have eliminated a few coyotes that have killed our sheep. What is interesting is, they often didn’t even eat the sheep, they kill merely for sport. We now own a beautiful dog named Tasha who is wired genetically to be a sheep protector, and she does an amazing job. Can you begin to see how the devil operates? The taunting, terrifying feeling that someone is after you that you aren’t aware of, is how he works. God is our protector and he watches over us, and as we are sensitive to His voice, we will follow Him, and be totally protected. We are His sheep and we know His voice! Let’s live in the blessing of the abundance that is the promised to us. Jesus is….our Good Shepherd.

Righteous Through Faith Romans 4:4-5

Don’t you love working with people who have a good work ethic? The ones who pull their own weight and get the job done without complaining? ME TOO! I am all about raising kids with a good work ethic. We want them to know that when they are asked to do a chore, or a job, they do it thoroughly, and a good attitude is expected. Because we are used to that good work ethic in our families, or on our jobs, sometimes it makes it harder to understand grace, or understanding how we become the righteousness of God in Christ. We naturally think that if we want something we have to work for it, and if it is really good, we work really hard for it, save for a long time, and then we will finally get it. I hope you are beginning to see very clearly, that we are given grace and made righteous, not because of our good work ethic, but totally because of the love of God. The cool thing about the love of God is that it is a gift. It is not earned. Even when we don’t deserve it we are made righteous through faith. Sounds too good to be true? Believe me, it’s true! Jesus is…the way we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Christ Died for Sinners Romans 5:8

Very seldom do you see someone willing give up his or her life for someone else. I know most mommas would do that for their own children, and they might do it for someone else’s child. We know God did it for His Son, but Jesus took it a step further. Jesus was the one who went to the cross and died, not for people who deserved it, but for everyone who didn’t. “God demonstrated his love for us, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The love of God is unbelievable. Jesus didn’t die for his then family, He died so that He could reunite us with Him and become family. He totally demonstrated a love that we can’t even imagine. Christ died for sinners. Not just the easy sin, or the socially acceptable sins, but for murders, thieves, and anyone who broke the law of God. Jesus gave up his life, so that we could become family. And family we are! We are brothers and sisters, and children of the Most High God. Not just His creation, but now his very kids. All that, because Jesus is full of grace. Jesus is… the one who paid for our sin
