With Thanksgiving Phil 4:6

One of the things that often happened in the Bible was that people had a party to remember God’s faithfulness. They killed the fatted calf, they brought out the fancy clothes, they celebrated with gusto! I love that idea. At our house, we celebrate whenever we can. I think there is something really special about saying even small things are worthy of a celebration. Communion might be the most common spiritual thing that we do to remember Christ’s death until He comes again. We commemorate His resurrection on Easter, we celebrate His birth at Christmas, but daily we should celebrate His faithfulness. His mercies are new every morning. Why not thank Him everyday for your salvation, for His provision, for walking in divine health, for the life of God that flows through you, for the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. There are so many things that we can remember and be thankful for. A daily habit of gratitude is powerful. The Bible tells us even when making requests to God to thank Him in advance. Phil 4:6 says, “ Be careful (or anxious) for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, WITH THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known unto God”. What a great pattern for life. Let’s live in grateful remembrance. God has done great things for me!

Rehearse Past Victories I Samuel 17:34-37)

One of my favorite things to do when I am faced with a difficult challenge or circumstance is to immediately go into remembrance mode and begin to rehearse past victories. Once I get past the moment wondering how this will turn out, it is almost automatic for me to just start thanking God for how He has moved heaven and earth for me in the past. The best example of this in the Bible is the story of David and Goliath. The mighty Philistine army was taunting the Israelites and no one was willing to fight the Giant. Up comes a little shepherd boy to bring supplies to his brothers and he decides to accept the challenge. Saul wasn’t so sure that this boy would deliver, but David was the only willing warrior. David rehearsed his past victories to Saul. The Lord has delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, and he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine…..so Saul said, go for it, may God be with you! When you need courage for the battles you face, why not try doing what David did. It can be as simple as saying, “God you’ve been faithful to me before, you’ve supplied my needs, you’ve healed my body, you comfort me when I need it, you give me peace in the midst of strife, you have proven to be all I need. So this challenge or circumstance is no match for you. You have delivered me before from the paw of many challenges, and you will be my deliverer once again. You are faithful to me, I will be faithful to trust you.” After hearing yourself say words like those, your faith will be encouraged! God stands ready to move on your behalf. The power of remembrance will move you from fear to faith, and the power of God will be activated for you. Giant you are going down! (I Samuel 17:34-37)

Bless the Lord Ps 103:2

Hi this is Dorette Schaal with an encouraging word for your day. This week we will be talking about the power of remembrance. All too often we only remember the bad in our lives, and forget to remember all the good that we have experienced. As you remember God’s goodness to you, I hope you will be encouraged about the faithfulness of God. Let’s not forget all of His benefits toward us. Let’s remember with gratitude how God has turned situations around for our benefit in the past, and remember that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Be encouraged today. Here is your dailyeword

Bless the Lord, oh my soul and forget not all His benefits it says in Psalms 103:2. The Message Bible says it this way:
Oh my soul, bless God
From head to toe, I’ll bless His holy name
O my soul, bless God
Don’t forget a single blessing.
He forgives your sins – every one
He heals your diseases – every one
He redeems you from hell – saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy – a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness – beauty eternal
He renews your youth – you’re always young in his presence
God makes everything come out right, he puts victims back on their feet.
What a great writing! I love to read the Message Bible, it gives such a great perspective on verses that we might just pass over in our reading. Soul…..bless the Lord! We can tell ourselves to bless God, and then not to forget a single blessing. I know that there have been many blessing I’ve received from God that I have forgotten, and probably never even thanked God for.

This week my desire for you is to be a person who remembers God’s faithfulness. There is great power in remembrance. In the Old Testament, God established days for feasts just to remember different times in the Israelites lives. As New Testament believers, we are called to do that every day! My prayer is that as you remember what God has done for you in the past, all His wonderful benefits toward you, that you will be strengthened and encouraged. What He has done before, He will do again. Be encouraged today!

Weapons Not of This World II Cor 10:4

What God says about you is more important than what others say or have said about you. As we talk about changing into the image of Christ, it is vital that we realize there is really only one opinion that matters, and it is God’s! We often end up with a warped identity, or one that is twisted or colored by words that have been spoken over our lives. Because words do have the power of life or death, words spoken to us, or about us have the power to bring death or life to us. That is one reason as a parent, the words we speak to and about our children need to line up with God’s Word. Perhaps you know the negative effect of words from personal experience. Unfortunately, many people have identities that are shaped by words spoken years and years ago. The echo of words spoken reverberate over and over in their mind, and all too soon, they are believed, and that is who the person becomes. So let’s think about the sentence I said at first. What God says about you is more important that what others say or have said about you. Even if you believed negative words and became who they said you were, you can change by renewing your mind to the thoughts that God thinks about you. So let’s start right now. Whenever you think a thought that lines up with the old you, immediately grab a hold of it, and capture it. II Cor 10:4-6 reminds us that the weapons we fight with are not flesh and blood, but are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. We have weapons available to us that can tear down wrong thoughts and win the battle that goes on in our mind. We can believe differently when we begin thinking differently. I want to encourage you to think God’s thoughts and begin to discover who God says you are!

A Wonderful Plan Jeremiah 29:11

Maybe if you go grocery shopping you may have noticed that some stores have a scratch and dent bin for food items that are not perfect. They sell those cans and boxes for a discount, and most of the time, they are just happy to get rid of the imperfect items. Have you ever felt like some of those items with the scratches and dents, or that your life isn’t as valuable or worthwhile as someone else? Probably every one of us has! I want you to think the way God thinks about you. Sometimes we identify with an image of who others say that you are. It happens all the time, we get compared to somebody else, and someone determines that we aren’t good enough, or smart enough, or even the opposite happens, that you’re too good for anybody else, or that you are a brain or a nerd because you are smart. Sometimes that happens because of words we have heard, but often it comes when we begin to meditate or think about the words that have been spoken. What begins as a thought to our own mind soon becomes who we think we are. When we let the thought remain, it begins to color or warp who we really are. I want to remind you of what God thinks about you, and I hope you begin thinking that same way. God has a wonderful plan for your life. He wants you to grow from glory to glory. He has given you talents and abilities that are unique to you. He wants you to live out your dreams and live your best life for Him. When any thought comes into your mind contrary to what God thinks, make sure to replace it immediately with God’s thoughts about you. God has a great future for you.

Victory in Sight I Samuel 17: 45-50

Every once in a while, maybe daily, it is good to recall and even rehearse what God says about you. The Bible tells us to fan the flame, and to stir ourselves up in the things of God. As we close out this week, we are going to do just that. I want you to say out loud, that you are growing from glory to glory. I want you to put your mind on those things that God says about you. Then I want you to tell someone else the same thing! Here are some great words to say:
I am who my Father God says I am in His Word
I can have what the Word says I can have.
I can do all that God’s Word says I can do.
I am blessed coming in and blessed going out.
I am above and not beneath
I am an overcomer
I am more than a conqueror.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength
I am well equipped to minister to others
I have the Spirit of God on the inside of me
I have His power, His strength, and His ability
I am God’s ambassador to my world
I am the person God made me to be
I operate in the gifts God has given me
I am a willing vessel for God to use.
I am a new creation in Christ Jesus
And I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!
I hope hearing those words encouraged you on the inside. Now it is up to you to believe them, think or meditate on them, and make them a part of your life. You are growing from glory to glory, and you are becoming more Christ-like daily! Why not encourage someone else today!

Look Beyond the Flesh II Cor 5:16

In II Corinthians 5:16 Paul tells us that from now on we should regard no man according to the flesh. When I read that scripture it speaks to me of the importance of not judging anyone by what you see. In the next couple of verses, it goes on to say that when we receive Christ we are a new creation and the old is gone and the new has come. We immediately become an ambassador for Christ and are representatives of heaven on this earth. Verse 21 in that same chapter reminds us that Jesus became sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. If ever you have a doubt filled moment, or your thought life takes you down a road of defeat, open up the Bible and go to these scripitures and let them reverberate in your heart. The old is gone!!! The new has come! God put you in his team, you are His ambassador! We don’t have to measure anybody by how they appear on the outside, and no one should do that with us! Jesus thought we were valuable enough to make you righteous, and give you right standing with the Father. That is a pretty awesome way to see yourself, and a pretty awesome way to see others. So we can quit being so hard on ourselves. We can realize that the old life really is gone….the mistakes, the mess ups, the wrong belief systems, the pain, the guilt, the frustration. God set us on a whole new path, and it is filled with light and life. It is a life filled with glory! Celebrate the new you that you are in Christ. Even if you have been saved for years, today is a new day. You are still a new creation today! Be the new, fresh, clean, forgiven, blood bought, believer that God made you to be. Celebrate today and rejoice that you really are who God says you are. You really can live from glory to glory. You really are the person God created you to be!

Capture Those Thoughts II Cor 10:4-6

Are you a grasshopper in your own eyes? Do you remember the spies that went into the promised land and came back saying that they were like grasshoppers in a land of giants? God told them the land was theirs, and all they had to do was possess it. They looked at the impossibilities and forgot that God said it was possible. Ten of the twelve spies said it was not possible. Two, Joshua and Caleb, said, let’s go for it, we can do it. For the ten, what they thought of themselves determined their level of victory and they never got to see the land that was promised to them, because they saw themselves as insects, instead of how God saw them. I’m sure that has happened to all of us on some level. We don’t try for a great job opportunity because we don’t think we are capable. We let go of a relationship because we don’t think we are worthy of being loved. We treat our body poorly because we don’t think we are valuable. I hope you are beginning to see the connection of our thought life to how we see ourselves, to how we act. The change starts in that great battlefield, the mind! To grow from glory to glory and really become who God says we are starts with aligning our thoughts with what God thinks about us. It takes discipline. It takes determination. It takes the power of God on the inside of us to be consistent about making sure thoughts that are not from God do not remain on the screen on our mind. Especially if they are persistent, we have to be extra persistent. We have to be as persistent positively as the negative thoughts are. One thing that has helped me in controlling my thought life is to immediately recognize where a contrary thought is coming from, and say out loud, that is not the truth. And then I say outloud, the truth is….. It is a great reminder that Jesus reversed the curse for us, and we need to remind our enemy of the same. All the enemy can do is lie, so the opposite of what the enemy says is the truth! The lie you heard in your mind from the enemy really is proof positive that the opposite is true! So are you a grasshopper? No way, you are an overcomer growing from glory to glory!

Who Do You Say That I Am Matt 16:15

Do you remember the passage of scripture when Jesus asked, who do you say that I am? Well, He still asks that question of us, but let’s turn it around and ask, who do you say that you are? This week as we go about finding our true identity and growing from glory to glory, we will look at the importance of our thought life. It is so good to know that when we change what we think about and what we say , we can change our life. We can become more Christ-like by making simple changes in how we think. The Bible tells us so clearly when thoughts come into our mind, we have to capture them immediately. If we allow random thoughts that enter our mind to determine who we are, we will find ourselves believing things other than the truth. Your personal identity and self image are shaped by environment and by life experiences, but most of who we are right now, is determined by how we processed life experiences and how we see ourselves. If we want change in the here and now, we must examine the thoughts that we think. What is interesting is we can’t control a thought coming to our mind, but we immediately can determine if we will continue thinking about the thought, or will we take them captive and replace them with the Word of God, which reveals truth to us. If we get diligent about processing our thoughts through the filter of God’s Word, and begin immediately casting down thoughts that are contrary to God and His Word, we can begin to see dramatic changes take place in us. What a great start for growing from glory to glory! The new you can be revealed by taking control of your thought life! What a great step toward being more like Jesus, and becoming the person He says you are.

Glory to Glory 2 Corinthians 3:18

Do you know that every day we have new mercies available to us? Why not draw on the new mercies of God and make some positive changes in your life. You became a new creation when you received Christ, but as we continually walk out this new life, daily we can make positive changes and become more Christ-like. Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with an encouraging word for your day. This week we will concentrate growing from glory to glory and letting others see Jesus in us. You are who God says you are. You are the person God created you to be. You can live the abundant life God has for you! Your life is filled with hope. Here is your dialyeword,

Do you desire to be your best self for God? I know that it is my greatest desire to not only be who God called me to be, but complete what He called me to do. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is your heart’s desire too. Have you ever wondered how can we do that? We will take this week to find out how as we talk about growing from glory to glory. During this week we will begin to understanding that we really are- who God says we are. One of the key factors to changing from the inside out is to get a correct picture of who you are. This statement is so true. How you see yourself controls who you are. You see yourself as a victim, and others will treat you like one. You see yourself as an over comer and victory manifests in your life. You see yourself as a world changer, and you will change your world! You see your life filled with hope, and your outlook will be brighter. What you think about yourself is the most powerful influence in your life. The Bible says how you think in your heart, so you are. Often we think it is the things on the outside that define us. How often do we let our age, our race, our gender, our social status, or things in the natural be what we identify with? There is a better gauge than outward things, and that gauge is God’s Word. What is revealed in the Word of God about who we are will help us find out how we should think about ourselves, and help us have the ability to overcome areas that may have held us back in the past. So this week our key to finding out who we really are in Christ will be in finding out who God thinks we are and getting our thinking in line with God’s thoughts, so we can grow from glory to glory. How encouraging to know that we can change from the inside out, as we begin to change how we think about ourselves. I hope you see yourself growing from glory to glory!
