Saturday 9 Joy for the Journey

Having just finished Christmas, I still have the baby in the manger pictured in my heart. Joy came to the world, when Immanuel, God with us, arrived to change the world forever. If your journey is lacking joy, I hope you can imagine a very pregnant woman on the back of a donkey, trekking over hills and valleys to reach the town where they had to pay taxes. Not too much joy for any of the characters of this story. BUT, joy was about to be born. Jesus came to bring joy to the world. Whenever your journey gets tough, think about the end product of the journey Mary and Joseph were on. Heaven came down to earth, and Jesus was born. Keep your eyes on the prize, and experience joy for your journey.

Joy for Your Journey

It wasn’t so simple
To load up and go
To pay family taxes
On a long dusty road
But Mary and Joseph
Did all that and more
There was no room inside
So they slept on the floor
The joy of their journey
Was a sweet baby boy
Born without any granduer
Who brought the world joy
Joy came to the world
On a night that was dark
He gives joy for your journey
When you give Him your heart

Friday 8 Welcome to the Family

If you’ve listened or read dailyeword for very long, you probably realize that our youngest child is adopted. There are so many wonderful things about being adopted. You get to be a part of a family that loves you, because they chose you. You get to have all the privileges as a son or daughter born to their parents, even though they are not part of the direct bloodline. We’ve experienced that when we come to Christ. He wanted us in His family, so much that he made a way for that to happen through Jesus. He sent Jesus as a baby, who grew up sinlessly so that He could take every sin upon Himself so that we could be forgiven and be part of the family of God. Pretty amazing. What a wonderful welcome into the family of God.

Welcome to the Family
Together we are more than strong
This is what your heart has longed for
You have found where you belong.

Thurs 7 Greater Things

I really do believe our future is bright. Even in the midst of a world that is crazy, as believers, we know the end of the book, we’ve read the last chapter, and we win! We also know that what ever comes our way, we can remain victorious. Even in death we win. This earth life is really short, and heaven is really long! And heaven is a major win! I am believing for greater things this year, more salvations, more healing, more abundance, more of all the good things that God has for me individually, for my family, for my church body and my sphere of influence. I am praying for a greater anointing in my life to minister the Word of God more effectively through any outlet I am given, and for God to use me to bless many this year. I hope that is your desire too! Expect something greater!
Greater Things
Greater things are yet to come
Life’s just starting, it isn’t done
Your future is looking very bright
Because of grace, because of Christ
Believe it, because it is God’s will
Greater things are coming still.

Wed 6 Restore to Me

Has the enemy ever tried to steal your joy? That’s a silly question! All the time, that’s his MO. That is one of the main ways he finds to discourage Christians. When we start looking inwardly, feeling sorry for ourselves, when we think we are forgotten, the enemy comes in and floods our life with doubts about the love of God or the love of His body. Sit around for a while moaning about how rough your life is, and soon you can be in the depths of despair. Don’t feel like you are the only one who has done that. Sometimes when I read the Psalms, I notice David has that same tendency. He starts down the road despair, and then he catches himself. He pulls himself up by the bootstraps, and begins to encourage himself in the Lord. If you want your joy restored, you can do the same thing. Speak joy to your soul.
Restore My Joy
Its easy enough to give into my flesh
But when I do there is only regret
You can’t take my joy, I won’t give it away
When obstacles
come, this is what I say
Restore to me the joy You give
In joy and peace I chose to live,
I’ll keep my joy,
Its God who restores
When my cup is empty,
He will fill me up more
With joy overflowing,
up over the brim
He restores my soul,
and my joy is in HIM.

Jan 5 Who Cares?

It is important to start out the year strong, but sometimes we go through seasons of life where we don’t feel strong. When it is an attack of the enemy, we stand strong against him. When it is a situation in life, sometimes it takes time to work things out. When devastating circumstances happen, we need someone to run to, and even though we know what we are supposed to do, sometime we feel sorry for ourselves. That lost or broken feeling can make us wonder if anyone cares. I hope this song/poem reminds you that God does, and your church family does too. You are not alone.
Who Cares?
When your heart is broken, and you’re bleeding from inside
Is there anybody out there, who cares about your life?
Hurt and pain so deep, can make you run away and hide,
But the answer isn’t hiding, it’s in running to God’s side.

He’s a refuge and a fortress, that you know will see you through
He’s a God who’s always near, and He longs to care for you.

When you run toward the Father, you will find His family there
Hearts and hands extended, showing love and giving care

For we once were the hurting, and God’s comfort we’ve received,
God’s grace is now upon us, to help others sense His peace.

A lifeline for the hurting, is what we are known for
And the care we show to others, will draw many to the Lord.

We are willing, we are able, filled up with love to share
From this family, and this body, they will know us by our care.

Jan 4 New Mercy for Me

Intro: For the first 50 days of 2016, I will be doing something different than usual in your dailyeword. I felt like God spoke to me to do #50songs50days. I believe that music is such a beautiful part of life, and so enriching to our lives as believers and a great addition to our devotional life, so we are doing 50 songs from the beginning of January until the middle of February. I actually come from a long line of writers, and my late paternal grandfather wrote a whole hymn book of songs for his denomination. One of my uncles on my mother’s side is a wordsmith and a poet in several languages. I love that heritage, and believe those gifts will be passed on to future generations through my offspring. I hope you enjoy #50songs50days or your dailyewords.

I’m sure all of us have done this, we make a fresh start, a new firm commitment, a new line in the sand, or even in concrete, and bummer, in a few short days, or hours, or even minutes, we blow it. What we said we wouldn’t do, or what we wouldn’t eat, or wouldn’t say. We are kicking ourselves, and angry, frustrated, and giving ourselves no mercy. At that moment, aren’t you thankful for the mercy and grace of God? I know I sure am. Grace and mercy don’t give us a license to sin, they give us motivation to keep going. God hasn’t given up on you! Don’t give up on yourself.

New Mercy For Me
New mercy for me,
His grace I’ve received
I don’t do life alone,
He calls me His own
Giving strength for my path,
His favorite I am
Old patterns are broken
His word I have spoken
I’m changed inside now
I’m living it out
New mercy received
His grace is for me.

Jan 2 Start, Middle, Finish

I’m working on a song that talks about the passion of a new believer, the challenges of walking out our faith, and then ending strong. Since we are at the start of the year, it is important to put things right. Remember the zeal you had as a new believer? Everyone knew something had happened in you, and you had to tell everyone. You were the zealous and maybe even overzealous new believer. Your world had changed for the better, and it was all because of Jesus. Everyone you knew needed to know Him too. Then day by day, year by year, you walked out your faith and maybe hit some challenges. Maybe it was health, finances or relationships. You hunker down and keep believing. Even when disappointments happen, you keep your chin up, and keep on trusting a God who is faithful to you. And then we may not be near the finish line, but we know those who are. We have seen them trust God and walk out their faith for a lifetime, and soon they will finish their race. We see their example of finishing strong, and want to emulate their strength. Start strong, walk strong, finish strong. Here is the chorus of the Song called Strong
Chorus
Throughout my life long
I’m walking out strong
I’m keeping it real
And keeping my zeal
Through life’s twists and turns
This I have learned
That with all of my might
Finish strong, do what’s right

Jan 1 First Things First

Happy New Year! Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. I love new beginnings and fresh new revelation from the Lord. For the next 50 days, I will be doing something different than usual. I felt like God spoke to me to do #50songs50days. I believe that music is such a beautiful part of life, and so enriching to our lives as believers and a great addition to our devotional life, so for the next 50 days, we are doing 50 songs. I hope you enjoy #50songs50days or your dailyewords.

Can you hear some important person in your life giving you guidance to put first things first? We know Jesus tells us that, in Matt 6:33 we are told to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and everything else we need will be added to us. If you were raised in church, you probably sang this song:
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness And all these things will be added unto you Hallelu, Hallelujah
The first thing, should be seeking God. I’m an early morning person, so early is good for me. I hope you have found a time each day that works for you to meet with God. Don’t make it an after thought, or like many people do, just seek God when you are in the depths of a problem. My husband wrote this little chorus years ago, that I love, because it puts first things first.
Early in the morning will I meet with You
Early in the morning will I pray
I’ll seek your face and arise up in faith
Early in the morning will I worship You.
Let’s put first things first, and meet with God early in the year, early in the week (go to church) and early every day. #50songs50days.

Thursday New Years Eve – Jesus’s Declaration is Mine

As the month of December comes to an end, and as the New Year begins at midnight, everyone starts thinking about new beginnings. What I love about January is that it comes right after Christmas. Not only are the days beginning to get longer, but we just finished celebrating the arrival of the King of kings and Lord of lords. When Jesus comes on the scene, doesn’t He just make everything better? The new little Baby gives us the opportunity to start fresh starting today. He is alive and living big on the inside of you and me. Whatever you and I are facing is not insurmountable. Jesus is here. What a great start to a New Year. We have a fresh slate, a blank canvas, a clean sheet of paper to begin working with. What happens when Jesus comes? We get new life, new hope, new joy! He brings rest and peace, and power to overcome. Jesus came to reverse the curse of the devil. He actually came to destroy the devil’s work. He did it right out in the open, on the cross of Calvary, and in the belly of the earth as He took on the powers of darkness and triumphed over them. Jesus came onto the scene and changed destiny. When Jesus comes where we are, we got all those same benefits. His declaration in Luke chapter 4, actually becomes ours. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon us, He has anointed me!” As we prepare for what God has for us next year, recommit yourself to living life full…full of life, full of hope and full of joy. His anointing rests on you. What is in the past is just that, in the past. Why not live your very best life right now. I believe that’s God’s desire for you!

I Give You My Heart by Reuben Morgan

Verse 1
This is my desire
To honor You
Lord with all my heart
I worship You
All I have within me
I give You praise
All that I adore is in You

Chorus
Lord I give You my heart
I give You my soul
I live for You alone
Ev’ry breath that I take
Ev’ry moment I’m awake
Lord have Your way in me

Word of the Day: Luke 4:18-21
Song of the Day: I Give You My Heart by Reuben Morgan

Thank you for reading along with me during Advent. Because spending time in the Word of God is so important, my prayer for you in the New Year is that you make it a habit to read God’s Word every day. I know there are many great Bible reading options, and if you already have one that works well, wonderful. There is nothing better than reading God’s Word to strengthen our faith. We BELIEVE, let’s be strong in faith, and see great things happen during the New Year. I BELIEVE!

Blessings,
Dorette Schaal

Wednesday Dec 30 – Pray Like Jesus

Jesus gave us some details instructions on how to pray. We have access to all the wonderful things that Jesus came to bring through prayer. He was heaven manifested on the earth, and because of Him, we can live an amazing abundant life, filled with hope, overflowing with joy, enjoying perfect peace, and surrounded with love. In Matt 6:9-13 The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus makes it very clear that He wants the earth to experience a little bit of heaven…. His kingdom come, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let’s enjoy life with a little glimmer of heaven right here on this earth during the New Year. God gave the world a taste of heaven on this earth when Jesus walked the earth. When we make room for Jesus, He does the same for us. The kingdom of God is within us. God’s desire is that His will is done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt 6:10) We believe that the very presence of God, His life, His nature, and His ability resides in us, empowering us to make our earth life, a little bit of heaven. He is giving us a foretaste of things to come. What hope that brings. Yes, Lord, I believe!
