Like newborn babies you should crave, thirst for and earnestly desire the pure unadulterated spiritual milk, that you may grow unto completed salvation. What a great scripture in I Peter 2:2. We have all seen newborn babies looking for milk. They go at it with gusto! They know what they want, and won’t be satisfied until they get it! Are you like that with God’s Word? We should be! Our desire for the milk of the Word will make us complete. When we make the Word a part of our day, we impart wisdom into our lives that will keep us rooted and grounded like a tall oak. Storms may come, but we will stand strong. The Word in our lives will make our roots go down deep so we can be like a tree planted by the streams of living water and bearing fruit in every season of life. It we continue in the Word we will be blessed in our deeds. James 1:25 says when we continue looking into the law of liberty (The Word) we will be blessed in what we do. For growth and blessing and completed salvation, our choice is easy. Keep our nose in the Bible! There is everything we need for life and for godliness. The incorruptible seed of the Word of God is planted in our heart. The seed keeps growing as we water it with the Word, and stay in God’s light and presence. So just like yesterday’s question. How hungry are you? Get filled and stay filled with God’s Word. It is what we thirst and crave for!

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Have you ever been walking through the house at night and stumbled over something you didn’t see. I know it has happened to all of us. God doesn’t want us to stumble in fact, he wants our path to be filled with light, so we don’t make a misstep. Walking in the light, we can see where we are going, we can be aware of snares of the enemy, and we can see the specific twists and turns in the road that we need to take so that we can make it to our destination. Without the light, we are helpless and hopeless, but the light has dawned for us, and for the Christian, the light gets brighter and brighter as we live in the light of God’s Word. Each of us also needs specific direction, and most of us don’t have a book of the Bible with our name on it (unless your name is Matt, Mark, Luke or John!!!) but we do have the promise that God will lead and direct us. We do need to believe that God does want to speak to us. He does that through His word, but he speaks to us in our spirit as well. We need to be listening to His still small voice, and be open and receptive to his leading. We can’t do life without God. We are too inexperienced to try to make it through life without God’s guidance. His word is the guide that we need. Aren’t you grateful for His Word in your life? Let’s make it our goal to include more and more of God’s Word in our lives, to keep in our lips, and to hide it in our heart.

In 2011, the Christian Church celebrated 400 years of having the Bible written and printed in English! The KJV of the Bible was first printed in 1611 and how thankful we are that we can have multiple copies of the Word available to us. I want to talk about the importance of giving God’s Word first place in our life. Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. God’s Word is our guide book. To make right choices, and to live the victorious life God has for us, let’s give God’s Word the place it deserves! Here is your encouraging word for today.

How hungry are you? There is a hunger and thirst in the heart of every person for something. Perhaps you have heard it called “God hunger”, or a God shaped vacuum. How can we feed the hunger in our lives for God? One simple way is for us to recognize that it is God who we are hungering for! Most of us try to fill the hunger on the inside of us with everything else but God. You know, with food, with stuff, with wrong relationships, etc. But God’s Word is what we are hungry for! It is the bread of life, the bread of heaven, and food for our soul. One of my favorite Bible verses is in Matt 5 verse 6 where it says that he who hungers and thirst for righteousness will be filled. What a wonderful promise. When we hunger for righteousness, there is a promise of fulfillment. There is an answer to satisfy the hunger! It is to dig deep into the Word of God. God’s word is rich and satisfying! There are answers within that will quiet each question. There is comfort, forgiveness, restoration, peace, liberty, freedom, joy, ……you name it, what you need you will find in the Word of God. So are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Are you hungry and thirsty for what your really want, and what you really need? Then dig in deep into God’s Word, and then taste and see that the Lord is um, um good.

How do we get more faith? That is always an interesting question to ask, because you’d be amazed at the answers I have heard! The Bible’s answer is this….Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17 Have you ever noticed how often Jesus repeated this saying, “If you have ears to hear, let him hear.” Do you have ears to hear? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. It is more than just hearing with our natural ears, we need the ears of our spirit attuned to God’s voice. When His Word speaks to us, we need to say just like Samuel said, “speak Lord, for your servant hears you”. Then because we believe, we put action to our faith. We strengthen our faith muscle by exercising it. Just like a natural muscle, we have to use it. You never get to stop using your faith. The Christian walk is a faith walk. It is a life of faith. The Bible says that the just shall live by faith. Let’s be “believing” believers! Faith speaks! Let’s take what God’s Word says and believe it, act on it, live by it, and share it. Why keep it all to yourself? With the great message we have, something that has changed our lives forever, why not tell everyone! Use your voice! We can change the world, one life at a time.

With some pine trees intense heat or even fire is necessary for reproduction. The seed in locked in the cone until intense heat expels it. Devastation of a woodland by fire has a huge negative impact, but out of the ashes new life can be produced. Awful circumstances in life can be what propels you to live again – and success can be birthed from failure. Some people call it failing forward. If your past has negative circumstance in it, or if your present does, it doesn’t mean you can’t survive and then thrive tomorrow.

I am always so inspired by those who have walked through great difficulty and come out better on the other side. The enemy attacked them, and they stood strong, and their test, produced a testimony! Their tragedy was turned to triumph. They didn’t become victims, they were victorious! What the enemy meant for evil, God turned around for good! When we believe God’s Word, even in the worst of circumstances, He is on our side and is making a way in the wilderness. His living water sustains us in the desert. His living bread is sustenance to our soul. He nourishes us in the presence of our enemies, and even if we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we don’t live in fear, for God sustains us. When we get the good stuff (the Word) on the inside, we will come out stronger on the other side. That’s encouraging!

Words affect us and they affect others. What have we heard? What have we said?
Words framed the world – words bring life or death – one word from God can change your destiny – His Word doesn’t return void. When we believe and act on His Word, circumstance change. Have you ever thought about this? We know that God’s Word doesn’t return void, and neither does ours – once it goes out of our mouth it produces positively or negatively. Think about that! There is power in the tongue. What we believe comes out through our mouth.

Here is a great thought! The further we develop and mature in our Christian walk and our belief in the Word of God, the more fruit we should be producing! – Just as a tree matures – there is more fruit and the fruit gets sweeter.
So we get to be like TREES!
Planted by living water
Roots that go down deep
Not blown over by any gust of wind
Storms may come but they still stand
The longer they stand, the firmer footing they get
The root system becomes as big as what you see on top
A tree that produces!
As we grow deeper in the Word of God – there should be more evidence in our life that His Word is hidden in our heart, so we will not sin against Him. I want to encourage you – get your roots down deep. Be firmly planted in the Word. Know Who you believe in! Know what you believe! Then out of the abundance of your heart, your mouth will speak believing words. You’ll be able to stand, and overcome in this life!

Did you know that there is a heart and mouth connection in salvation? The Bible tells us to believe and confess, or to believe and speak. What you believe is what you speak, as it says in Matt 12:34. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak. So, what is in your HEART?
What do you believe? Here are some things the word says we should believe.
God is good and brings life
The devil is bad and brings destruction
Jesus conquered the devil on Calvary
In salvation we have everything we need to live victoriously on the earth
We choose to follow Christ, to obey His Word, and live by His commands

Has this belief system, based on God’s Word, really changed your life? Was it a drastic change? Or, are negative habits so established in your life that there is no difference between you and a non- believer?

The next big question to ask is do you want to change? If our belief system has changed our life, it should change our actions. How then should we act? Here are some things to consider for the person who is filled up with the Word and believes what the Word of God says:
Gossip is not an option
Reacting in the flesh is not an option
Speaking before you think is not an option
Saying everything that comes to mind is not an option
Disobeying the law of love is not an option!
I hope you are encouraged to keep on growing. Keep on becoming more like Jesus, the Word made flesh! Your words matter! Let’s celebrate the Word of God by being a doer of what it says!

What echo do your kids hear in their ears from the words you have spoken to them? Do they see you smile when you talk to them, or do they hear angry words with a frown that sticks with them throughout their days. Remember the scripture in Proverbs 18:21? Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Once words are spoken, they can’t be retrieved. They are forever in the atmosphere. You can apologize for the words you speak, or how you said it, but the echo will never go away. So put a guard on your lips, and think before you speak. What kind of words should we speak in our homes? Words that bring life, words that bring healing, words that encourage and edify. If we want those kinds of words to come out of our lips, we have to be putting The Word in our heart, because out of our heart, our mouth will speak. One very powerful thought is that if something you hear doesn’t line up with the word, we should analyze it before we let it make its home in us. Teaching ourselves and our kids to know if the thoughts we are thinking or the voices we are listening to are telling the truth or a lie from the enemy will keep us from meditating on thoughts that are not of God. Let the words in our home be sweet. Let our attitudes and actions demonstrate the love of Jesus.

We are looking forward to Easter at the end of this month, and will be talking about the last words of Jesus as we get closer to Palm Sunday and the walk to Calvary. Yesterday I told you about the last words I heard my dad say to me before he died. They were encouraging and life giving, just as his words always were. I also remember my mom telling me about the last words my dad said to her before he died, and it was very typical of their relationship. Her name is Suzy, and he called her Suzy dear. Just before he entered heaven he said to her in a soft voice, “thank you Suzy dear.” Because she has always been a server/helper, and her love language is acts of service, no sweeter words could have been spoken. How often do you consider the love language of those to whom you speak? Being aware of love language is powerful to know, because you can speak their love language with your words. How often do you just thank people who serve you in any capacity? Do you thank the bus boy at the restaurant for clearing your table after you have eaten? Do you thank the mail man/woman (in our case) for bringing the mail to you everyday? Are you polite in your own home with your family saying thank you and please? With our words in our home, we can set the tone of how our family treats others. Let’s use respectful words and speak kindly at home, so that our children can make us proud when we are not around, by speaking the same way if we were there. Always express your love to your loved ones when ever you say goodbye. Showing affection with a kiss and/or a hug sends your loved one off with their love tank full.

I passed on an anonymous quote that one of my friends quoted on Facebook, and it has made it all the way back to me. When that happens you know it is reverberating in my sphere of influence. Here is what it says:

You can’t speak defeat and expect victory
You can’t speak lack and expect abundance
You can’t speak gossip and expect trust and true relationship
The prophet Joel said, “let the weak say I am strong.”
King David said, “let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”
The Apostle Paul said, “call those things which be not as though
they were” and THEY WERE.

What kind of sounds come from your life? Do your words edify and encourage? Do they cause healing, or do damage? Do people know you love and appreciate them, because you’ve told them you do? We are so blessed to be alive and able to say the words that need to be said and need to be heard. I hold dearly the last words my dad said to me before he died. Because he was an encourager, I had heard them many times before. He regularly told me that he loved me, that he was proud of me. I heard him say that he thought I was a good mom and that my kids would do great things in life because of my influence. He even told me that I was beautiful. What confidence builders those words were. Thinking about last words makes me want to make every word I say express the depth of love, admiration, and appreciation I have for my own family and those around me that I love dearly. So to all of you from my heart to yours, I love you, I admire you, and I appreciate you. You are God’s gift to me.
