For several weeks, we have been talking about how the Holy Spirit can impact our lives, every single day. Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. The Holy Spirit is our helper, comforter and guide, and He is with us to empower us to do great things on the earth. My prayer would be that each day you are recognizing the power of the Holy Spirit more and more in your life. This week’s dailyeword will be about the effects of having the Holy Spirit in your life. Each day gets better and better!
Happy Memorial Day today! We honor those who have given their lives for our freedom, and are thankful for those who have served and are currently serving in our military. I hope this day is a day of rest and relaxation for you! It is my birthday, so I will be celebrating and hopefully resting and relaxing too!
Today we are talking about how the Holy Spirit can impact our lives everyday. We all have to deal with very natural situations and often our flesh takes the lead. When the flesh wants to argue and complain, the spirit filled believer can do as it says in 2 Timothy chapter 2 in The Message translation.
“Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness—faith, love, peace—joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God. Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights. God’s servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool, working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey. You never know how or when God might sober them up with a change of heart and a turning to the truth, enabling them to escape the Devil’s trap, where they are caught and held captive, forced to run his errands.”
It is so easy to follow the flesh and fall into silly, and sometimes negative discussions that lead to more negativity. As spirit filled believers, we can avoid arguments and discussions that lead to fights. We can be the one who is cool and patient, a listener who is led by the Spirit and doesn’t rely or react in the flesh. It does seem hard in the natural realm, but we have power of God on the inside to rise above and live empowered by the Holy Spirit. We can watch our tongue, and be a peace maker. Why live any other way!
