Sunday April 3 Meditate On These Things

Can you find some time today to just meditate on the Word of God? It might be a good to have a little bit more information on what it means to meditate. Meditating on God’s Word is really a great way to fill up the reservoir of your spirit. Everyday things drain life from us. It could be a difficult relationship, an unhappy boss, insecurities, low self image, overwhelming bills, a job loss, too many responsibilities, not enough time, or a myriad of other things. One way to refill your reservoir is to meditate on the Word of God.

I hope you have discovered the value and necessity of meditating on the Word, and taking time to pray in the Spirit. What it does is makes us more sensitive to the voice of God, and instead of just trying a million things to bring change in their own lives, we ask God for His specific directions for us. One great example I know of is a wonderful lady who has lost over 60 pounds since the first of the year. She was praying in the Spirit, and meditating on the Word of God, and in her spirit she sensed the voice of God as she read a scripture in Hebrews. She took it as her Word from God, and immediately her weight began to “fall” off. She found a secret that God really does have a specific plan for us that He want to reveal to us, and praise God, His Word is working in her!

Saturday April 2 Believing The Word Changes Everything

Do you know that believing and faith are like the two sides of a coin? You really can’t use a coin if one side is defaced. Coins are only usable currency when both sides are intact. Faith is like that too! To be able to use our faith, we have to add our belief to what God’s Word says to us. Just like when you were saved, one side of the coin was faith, and the other side was belief. Once you believed, your faith hooked up with the promise of God’s Word that you could be born again. Then you used your mouth to confess or to speak about what you believed in your heart. Faith turned to action. Then you began changing and growing as you continued to put God’s Word in your life, and made choices that lined up with the Word of God. God directed your path, and gave you wisdom and insight and you continued to change and grow. Then you began to be fruitful for the kingdom of God, and became a witness of the wonderful life you have in Christ. What is so cool about faith and belief is that when you share your faith, others can believe. You get to be God’s voice to your world! How cool it is to see your friends see the change God has made in your life, and they decide to follow Christ too. That is fruitful living, and that is what believing the Word will do for your life.

Friday April 1 Clean Out Your Ears

Jesus commended great faith in the gospels. How do we get more faith? That is a great question, and the answer is really simple? You would be amazed at some of the ways people answer that question. The Bible’s answer is this….faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Have you ever noticed how often Jesus repeated this saying, “If you have ears to hear, let him hear.” Do you have ears to hear? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God, so clean out your ears! It is more than just hearing with our natural ears, we need the ears of our spirit attuned to God’s voice. When His Word speaks to us, we need to say just like Samuel said, Speak Lord, for your servant hears you. Then because we believe, we put action to our faith. We strengthen our faith muscle by exercising it. Just like a natural muscle, we have to use it. You never get to stop using your faith. The Christian walk is a faith walk. It is a life of faith. The Bible says that the just shall live by faith. Let’s be believing believers! Let’s take what God’s Word says and believe it, act on it, live by it, and share it. Why keep it all to yourself? With the great message we have, something that has changed our lives forever, why not tell everyone! We can change the world by sharing our faith, one life renewed at a time.

Thursday 31 God’s Word is a GOOD Influence On You

Looking good on the outside is no good unless you have the inside character to back it up. Too many people, including Christians, try to dress up bad attitudes and hurts with a happy face and a good look. I don’t want to be a Halloween Christian, someone who wears a mask.

God can see right through that, and most people can to! Some might be fooled for a while, but truly you will be found out. There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed is a promise that should keep us all living in the light and the truth!
Have you ever seen a beautiful person turn unattractive in a moment by filth or venom coming from their mouth? It is proof of the scripture that out of the abundance, their heart is speaking.

What kind of fruit are you producing? Let’s let the seed of God’s Word produce something wonderful in our lives! We do want to look good on the outside through our attitudes and actions, and we can by staying true to the Word that is alive and growing on the inside. Get the good influence of the Word on the inside of you!

Wednesday 30 Words Have Power

Words affect us and they affect others. God’s words framed the world! We know from the Word, that our words bring life or death, and one word from God can change your destiny. What an amazing promise, God’s Word doesn’t ever return void. When we believe and act on His Word, circumstances are subject to change. Have you ever thought about this, that if God’s Word doesn’t return void, we should realize that neither does ours – once words go out of our mouth, it produces positively or negatively. Every word has the power of life or death. Think about that, ponder on that for a while! SELAH. There is power in the tongue. What we believe comes out through our mouth.

As we grow deeper in the Word of God – there should be more evidence in our life that His Word is hidden in our heart, so we will not sin against God. I want to encourage you – grow your roots down deep. Be firmly planted in the Word. Know Who you believe in! Know what you believe! Then you will be able to stand firm, and overcome anything life brings your way! God’s Word is powerful!

Sunday 20 Palm Sunday

This week we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection! Before Jesus’ victory over the grave, the garden of Gethsemane, the hill of Golgotha, and the cross of Calvary stood before Him. This week was the final battle for Him. Hi, This is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. Before Jesus could come out of the grave, some sobering things took place to our Lord. Let’s not only remember, let’s value what He did for us! Because of the cross we can live in victory! Because of the cross, we are now family! God’s family. What a privilege! Here is your encouraging word for Easter week:

Have you ever noticed how fickle human emotions can be? One moment we can be overflowing with exuberance, and the next we can be overwhelmed with discouragement. The funniest humans to watch are little children. They can go from one emotion to another, in an instant! As adults, how often do we allow outward circumstances, or even peer pressure to sway our emotions? Too often, we live in the realm of our feelings, instead of standing and abiding on the authority and preeminence of the Word of God.

I can’t help but wonder if Jesus was baffled by the positive emotions that were displayed by onlookers during His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and then by the negative emotions of many of the same people who stood and chanted for his crucifixion before the Sanhedrin. On Sunday, he was the hero, and then 5 short days later, to many, he was the villain.

The Bible says that Jesus endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him. Although His present circumstances were grave, He chose not to be ruled by His emotions. His joy came in the realization that as a result of His obedience, people would once again have access to God through His blood. It would appear that He looked beyond the present, to see the provision.

Today, as we commemorate Palm Sunday, it is a wonderful reminder of the great celebration that took place in Jerusalem as Jesus made his entrance. (We should daily welcome Him into our lives with such enthusiasm.) As he rode in on a fresh colt, to the waving of palm branches and the shouts of Hosanna, surely He knew what the next week held for Him. He was born for such a time as this. For this purpose was the Son of God manifested, that He would destroy the works of the devil. His death was the supreme sacrifice that only He could make, as the spotless Lamb of God.

Can we make a choice to live above fickle emotions and to be “full on” for God everyday? We don’t want to be wishy-washy or be tossed about, to and fro like is says in James. It breeds instability, and James clarifies the point that one who is tossed about is unstable in all their ways. We can train ourselves to be ruled by the standard of the Word of God, and not to be ruled by our emotions. As believers, as we strive for a strong, solid foundation, it is attainable when we are firmly planted in the Word, not moved by what we see or feel, but truly walking by faith and not by sight. Then we too, can look beyond the present, to see the provision.

Saturday 19 Little Eyes, Little Ears

You probably remember this song from preschool. Oh be careful little ears what you hear,…… It goes on to say, oh be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above is looking down in love, oh be careful little eyes what you see. It is very important if we want to remain pure and undefiled to guard our eyes and our ears. What goes in is what comes out. It is truly easy to see that in operation with kids. They do what they have seen others do. If parents are “cussers”, or are known to swear, even if you tell them not to cuss, they probably will. If you fill your eyes with impure images, that is what will be rolling around in your head all the time. So how can you guard your eyes and your ears? Wear eye guards and ear plugs!??? No, you watch what goes in them! Listen to things that are edifying. Watch things that are educational or entertaining without images that defile your life. Determine your boundaries, and make sure family members know them. Keep satellite channels safe and secure by not allowing contaminated programming into your home. Put safeguards on your computer so that kids don’t see or go to places on the web that they shouldn’t. Make your home secure, not just with lock on the doors, but with safeguards that guard your family’s life from being defiled by the world. It is worth every ounce of effort it takes to accomplish, because we want to be careful what little eyes and ears, see and hear. Most of all, live purity in front of your family. Let them follow you, like you follow Christ!

Friday 18 Keep It Clean

Do you have a clutter problem at your house? You don’t have to answer that, most people are collectors of some kind, and clutter is a problem in a great percentage of homes! Clutter isn’t very encouraging. In fact, when I see clutter at my house, I just get discouraged! Clutter means stuff, and most of us have way more stuff than we need, or our houses can even hold. Stuff is ok. In fact, you’ve probably heard this, it’s ok to have things, just don’t let things have you. When clutter is taking over your life, things have you. If you have a hoarding problem, it can make it appear like you don’t think God is trustworthy to meet your needs in the future, or you may be lazy, or tired, or overworked, of a mixture of all of the above. “My clutter is useful!” I’ve heard people say that, and I have said it before. My husband and I read lots of books, and as a writer, I keep most of what I read, for further study, or for research. As a writer, paper is a problem. For years, I wrote everything long hand, and I have boxes and boxes and many wordless books filled with my words that I hate to toss because I have some really good things written…..parts of books, Bible Studies I’ve done, newsletters I’ve written etc. Confession time, that is my clutter problem. If it is time to declutter at your house, think about this, each day, find 20 things that clutter your space and either put away, give away, or throw away those items. Before long, you’ll be having less clutter, and that means success!
