A Healthy Heart

As much hope and new life that can be attached with something new, sometimes the cares of life can crush your hopes and dreams. Another one of my favorite books is a gift from my great friend who seems to pick the best books at the right moment. The book is called Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Dutch Sheets, and it is another book that I have given to many people. The beauty of this book is that it is compact and easy to read, and it is filled with HOPE. If your own life hasn’t been affected by hope being dashed, definitely there is someone in your life who needs to hear these words, “let the whispers of God bring new hope to your soul”.

According to a study done in 1997 by the American Heart Association, people who experience a high level of despair have a much higher chance of developing atherosclerosis (the narrowing of arteries) than people who were optimistic. The verse in Proverbs 13:12 says that hope deferred makes the heart sick and this study proves that is true on a physical level. Having no hope is like a virus that can kill.

Hope deferred is a result of many sources….It doesn’t make you bad if you’ve experienced it, it makes you human. Loss, death, dreams shattered, rejection, betrayal, unkept promises, loosing a uphill battle, false accusations, business problems or failure, family issues, you name it…..the list can be endless of reasons to loose hope.
Tomorrow we will talk about some ways to get hope back.
