Dealing with Distractions

I have noticed something in my own life that distractions make life harder. They make it harder to write, to think, to finish projects, or to make it to my goals. Distractions make it harder to do just about anything! While I am writing now, my son is practicing piano, and I’m thinking about what to make for dinner. There is a fly walking across my computer, annoying me, and my head is pounding, because I think I may be addicted to caffeine! Someone is coming up our walk way, and I have to get ready for Wednesday night service in just a few minutes. My husband just called and wants me to do an errand on the way to church. I think I am distracted! Even thinking about the ways I am distracted is a distraction! Distractions can keep us from walking toward God’s best for our life. I’m sure you’ve said this before, “I don’t have enough hours in my day.” Or, “I never seem to get done, and usually that is because distractions have taken me off course.” To make sure that we make it to the destination we are headed, we have to navigate through the distractions in our path and keep our focus. Whether an emotional distraction is in your way, or a physical barrier, or negative circumstances of some sort, we can keep going and make it to our goal when we press forward and remain determined. Prov 29:18 says that without a vision my people perish. Habakkuk 2:2 says for us to write the vision down and make it plain, so you can run with it. We need a vision, and it needs to be accessible to us so we can see it and make it come to pass. So walk around those distractions and keep on moving forward. The vision you have for your life can come to pass!
