Lavish Giver Matt 7:11

We have been talking about God as our Father and how much he loves and cares for us His children. He is an Awesome God! Hi, this is Dorette Schaal with your dailyeword. God’s nature is to give, and He gives so much to us. On top of all the wonderful blessings we receive from God, we have his peace, a spirit of wisdom, and His very life flowing through us. I’m so thankful for a heavenly Father like Him. Let’s choose to be like Him. Here is your daily eword.

I love hearing about generous people giving to worthy causes. So often we think that only people with ridiculous amounts of money are generous. But generosity is not dependent on earning huge amounts of money. If we look at how God measures generosity, it isn’t even tied to our income, or how much we make. We give back to God the tithe, which is 10% of our income. The tithe is a measure of our obedience. Above and beyond our tithe is how we measure generosity. God’s giving nature now lives in us! God set it up this way. Here is what Jesus said in Matt 7:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Our Father is the giver of good gifts. They don’t come automatically, Jesus actually says we have to ask! It says in James as well, that we have not, because we ask not. Amazing to think that God really wants us to ask. As lavish as a giver as He is, He wants us to ask for what we desire. We know that Ps 37:4 says that God will give us the desires of our heart. What do you desire? It is a question Jesus often asked when He walked the earth. Let’s be lavish givers, and let’s remember to be asker! And it will be given to you, so you can be a lavish giver to others.
