The Promise of the Father was given to the Church on the Day of Pentecost. This amazing event was the sealing of the NEW COVENANT that God had established with His people. For the last several days we have been in Matt 28 looking at some of the last words of Jesus before he left the earth for heaven, and what He thought was important to convey to his disciples and followers before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. There were some specifics that have been Jesus’ directive to us, since before He ascended to heaven. His words were simple. He said go.
Jesus knew that to do this big job He put before us, we couldn’t do it alone. We needed some extra power, and that power was what He promised and delivered on the day of Pentecost. So His end of the bargain was completed. His promise was fulfilled. What he wants from us is that we fulfill our end of the deal now! His message is still the same. Are we willing to say yes to “go”? The where of the go isn’t specific, because each of us has a different mission field to reach. Are we willing to get off of our couch and put some shoes on and walk out the door? Are we willing to ask where it is that God wants us to go? Sometimes it is just to be willing to be available wherever we are, to look for the divine assignment God has for you on that specific day. It may be that you never leave your home country, but you evangelize your neighborhood. Or maybe God has called you to go far away. Let’s be the ones who say yes, every time we hear God whisper to our heart. Be a willing follower, wherever He leads!
